Over the past five years, Newman Futures has united more than 80 organisations, Traditional Owners and community members under a shared vision: building a diverse and sustainable economy that is inclusive to all. From quick wins to long term systems change, Newman Futures has co-created and delivered 26 locally led projects that have contributed to improved health, education, employment and overall liveability in Newman.
In 2024, with 85% of the five year strategy delivered or in progress, Newman Futures is proud to launch the 2025 – 2027 Roadmap.
Newman Futures undertook an extensive co-creation approach to develop the Roadmap, involving 34 one-on-one interviews with stakeholders from 26 organisations, a co-creation workshop attended by 44 stakeholders and a community survey which was completed by 188 individuals. This co-creation approach has supported the priorities set out within the Roadmap to reflect the priorities of local stakeholders and the current context of Newman.
The Roadmap seeks to prioritise Aboriginal led decision-making, education pathways, liveability, housing, child development, economic diversification and the revitalisation of East Newman under the four core workstreams identified in 2019.
