Positive impacts through the power of collaboration.

Newman Futures is a collaborative initiative launched in 2019 to build a diverse and sustainable economy that benefits everyone in the community.

Newman Futures’ success and potency stem from the power of collaboration. The initiative brings together a range of stakeholders, including local businesses, government agencies, and community groups, to work towards common objectives. By fostering collaboration and innovation, Newman Futures is seeing incremental and comprehensive positive impacts within the community.

As a primary funding partner and backbone project member in The Newman Futures Project Partnership, BHP has played a vital role in driving the project’s strategic direction, coordination, and administration in collaboration with the Shire of East Pilbara and Creating Communities.

With a commitment to sustainability and community engagement, BHP has provided crucial advocacy for the project and helped to ensure its success in transforming the town of Newman into a thriving and inclusive community.

The Shire of East Pilbara is a founding partner of Newman Futures and acknowledges the project’s importance in promoting job growth and economic prosperity in the region. To achieve this vision, the Shire has advocated for a comprehensive and collaborative approach to developments.

By working together and sharing regional goals, the Shire can contribute towards realising a shared vision for the region.

Creating Communities’ role in the project has been to undertake stakeholder and community engagement to develop and co-create a collective strategy underpinned by a systems approach to build a diverse and inclusive Newman economy.

As a backbone project member, Creating Communities role includes high levels of engagement with the Traditional Owners and Custodians, community members and stakeholders of Newman to ensure project design and delivery has broad community ownership.
