KNAC and WA Cricket Foundation form enduring partnership for Youth Engagement

In a partnership that highlights shared values of connection, community, and mutual respect, the Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KNAC) is proud to join the WA Cricket Foundation as a Community Partner.

Together with WA Cricket, KNAC is creating more opportunities for our young people to thrive while maintaining strong connections to Country and culture.

This collaboration reflects KNAC’s ongoing commitment to the cultural, social, and economic well-being of the Nyiyaparli people, whose country spans over 40,000 square kilometres of the Pilbara.

Announcing the partnership, Cate Ballantyne, CEO of KNAC, affirmed that the opportunities through this partnership strengthen their vision for Newman’s future.

“We’re pleased to continue to develop opportunities, presence and impact in Newman that supports the Cultural Compact and East Newman Precinct Structure Plan as well as our board’s vision and commitment to country as Traditional Owners,” Cate said.

The three-year partnership is designed to support one of the WA Cricket Foundation’s key social impact pillars, Aboriginal Cricket, within the Pilbara region.

Through this initiative, KNAC will work alongside the Foundation to promote physical, social, and mental well-being for young Nyiyaparli and Martu people in the Newman community. Cricket will serve as a vehicle for creating safe spaces that foster open conversation, mentoring, and positive role models, while also integrating traditional Aboriginal games.

“The WA Cricket Foundation is incredibly excited to be partnering with KNAC and are looking forward to supporting and engaging with local Nyiyaparli community members through the sport of cricket” – Carolyn Turner, Head of Philanthropy, WA Cricket Foundation

“As we continue to grow the Foundation’s reach across Western Australia, we look forward to working closely with KNAC to help deliver support to the Newman community,” Carolyn added.

This partnership aligns with the broader vision of Newman Futures, which seeks to create a connected, cohesive, and inclusive community where social and economic development thrive. By bringing stakeholders together and focusing on shared priorities, such as the East Newman Precinct Structure Plan, the partnership reflects a unified commitment to building a strong future for Newman.

Keith Hall, Chairperson of KNAC, echoed this sentiment.

“Our people’s health and safety are paramount. This partnership provides local kids with the chance to stay connected, have fun, and gain experiences that will help them shape a brighter future,” Keith Hall, Chairperson of KNAC

Newman Futures believes in the power of strong community ties to drive economic growth and diversity. By embracing opportunities and working together, we can ensure a vibrant, sustainable Newman for future generations.
