Youth Hackathon: Water Works!

During the last school holidays a group of 10 to 13 year-olds got together to talk about what type of spaces they would like to see in Newman.

There was keen interest in tech – gaming, drones and VR from those who already have access to this type of technology.

And of course, there was a strong emphasis on places where youth can have fun.  In particular with water.  In a hot place like Newman, our youth are keen to have more opportunities to cool off – whether that be more water play spaces at the swimming pool or cool drink fountains and shade sails at the skate park.

Newman youth were also keen on a bike track, also known as a pump track, for the town, ideally with drink fountains and water features.
